Easy Raspberry Papaya Green Smoothie for a Healthy Gut

A quick and easy smoothie to start your day! This Raspberry Papaya Green Smoothie adds a slightly tart but sweet taste to your daily greens. It’s delicious and packed with nutrients to promote a clear and optimally functioning healthy gut.

My freezer is packed with so much frozen fruit that sometimes I forget what’s in there. The good thing is that it has what I want at the moment that I need it. I was craving raspberries this morning so I pulled that out along with a bag of frozen papayas. You can usually find me munching on frozen fruit, but I remembered that this batch of papayas tasted a little on the bitter side. Hence, why I still had so much of it leftover. What better way to use bitter papayas than in a smoothie?

This Raspberry Papaya Green Smoothie Improves Digestive Health:

Skin Benefits of Spinach

The antioxidants present in spinach helps to fight the free radicals in the body that cause premature aging and skin issues. A couple of symptoms of oxidative stress can manifest as dry skin and acne. Vitamin A is abundant in spinach. This amazing nutrient promotes skin healing and increases the cellular turnover of epithelial cells in the digestive tract as well as outside the body.

Bananas to Clear the Colon

The fiber in bananas adds bulk to smoothies which keeps you satiated in the morning. Not only that, but since fiber isn’t broken down by enzymes, it helps clear out the colon by moving food and undigested particles out of the body.

Anti-Candida Raspberries

Raspberries have so many benefits when it comes to gut health. The anti-fungal properties of raspberries help combat candida overgrowth. One of the biggest difficulties when trying to reduce candida is due to its ability to generate protective biofilms. Raspberries possess anti-adhesion capabilities and tannins that help to disrupt biofilm formation.

Papaya’s Papain Enzymes

Papayas are high in vitamin A and C, both working as powerful antioxidants for boosting skin health. Papayas are well-known for their papain content. Papain is an enzyme that breaks down proteins. For this reason, papayas can be used as a meat tenderizer. Having papayas in the morning will help clear out any partially undigested proteins in the digestive tract from the night before.

Can you store/freeze it?

Green smoothies retain the most health benefits as soon as they are made. Many nutrients are lost to oxidation over time.

Freezing helps retain nutrients for when you’re ready to enjoy your smoothie, although the texture may change. Try making popsicles for an ice-cold healthy treat.
